Alice Pope
Alice Pope is chief financial officer for Wellmont Health System. A certified public accountant, Pope has nearly 25 years experience in finance, including about 20 years in health care. She has worked for Wellmont since 2000 and been entrusted with increasing responsibilities throughout her tenure. Prior to her appointment as chief financial officer, Pope served for three years as Wellmont’s senior vice president of finance, managed care and revenue cycle. In that role, she was instrumental in enhancing corporate treasury operations and in realizing significant improvements in the system’s revenue cycle function, including managed care contracting and system case management. For five years, she served as vice president and chief financial officer of Holston Valley Medical Center, Wellmont’s largest hospital. During that time, she played an integral role in the development and implementation of Project Platinum, a $114 million renovation and expansion of Holston Valley. Pope previously worked as chief financial officer of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp.’s Mississippi market and as an audit manager with Arthur Andersen. She holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce, with a concentration in accounting, from the University of Virginia and a master’s in business administration from East Tennessee State University.
