HOLSTON VALLEY ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY LABORATORY EARNS REACCREDITATION

The cardiac testing echocardiography laboratory at Holston Valley Medical Center was recently reaccredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories for a three-year term.

The echocardiography laboratories at Holston Valley and Bristol Regional Medical Center are the only such facilities in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia to earn ICAEL accreditation. Accreditation signifies that the hospitals have been reviewed by an independent agency that recognizes the facilities’ commitment to quality testing for the diagnosis of heart disease.

Echocardiography testing is useful in the detection and management of many types of heart disease, and an estimated 10 million echocardiograms are performed in the United States each year. Fewer than 1,000 echocardiography laboratories nationwide have achieved ICAEL accreditation.
