KINGSPORT – More than ever, people want to take control of their health – and a new, interactive Web portal from Wellmont Health System makes it easier and more convenient than ever for patients to manage multiple facets of their medical care.
It’s called myWellmont.
This latest tool from Wellmont Health System offers the advances of the digital age in the form of a user-friendly, intuitive Web design that will meet the needs of everyone from the Internet savvy to the computer novice.
Patients of Wellmont hospitals can become a registered myWellmont member with a few simple steps. By logging onto www.Wellmont.org and clicking the myWellmont banner, Internet users are taken to a Web portal that offers easy registration. In short order, a new myWellmont member will have the power to renew a prescription at a Wellmont pharmacy, sign up for fast-track registration if they’re scheduled for a medical procedure or manage a hospital account online.
Dr. Stephen Combs, Wellmont’s senior vice president for medical affairs, said the health system developed myWellmont to respond to the needs of consumers who not only need superior health care, but also more tools to make access and management of their health care more convenient.
“People are more interested than ever in living healthier lives, but they’re also busier than ever, too,” said Dr. Combs, who is also president of Wellmont Physician Services. “myWellmont is all about offering our patients more access, more convenience, more ownership of their health care.
“We consider a superior customer service experience to be an indispensable facet of a superior patient experience. And myWellmont is all about enhancing customer service.”
Since there are no closing hours for the Internet, a myWellmont member who needs to manage medication refills can renew prescriptions day or night. Medication refills will be accurate and ready for pickup at convenient Medical Mall Pharmacy locations at the time of a patient’s choosing.
A myWellmont member who is scheduled for a procedure at a Wellmont facility can submit much of the required patient information in advance of a hospital admission, cutting time spent in the waiting room.
With the billing manager feature of myWellmont, patients will have access to user-friendly, secure tools that allow for the paying of bills online. A patient can also view up-to-date account information, and get the answers to frequently asked billing questions.
“This is a new tool for Wellmont so we can serve our patients better, and it’s only going to get better,” Dr. Combs said. “We’ll continue to add more features to myWellmont as the months go by.”
