Wellmont Health System and the Regional Cancer Network will participate in National Cancer Survivors Day on Sunday, June 1, with three events designed to unite people throughout the region in a jubilant celebration of life and living it to the fullest.
National Cancer Survivors Day is an annual, worldwide celebration where hundreds of communities unite participants in a symbolic event to stress to the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality – and to promote an attitude of living life to the fullest.
The Regional Cancer Network events in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia will bring together patients, families, friends and healthcare professionals to recognize these hard-fought victories. Participants can choose from these events:
• Bristol Regional Medical Center, from 2-4 p.m. in the Monarch Auditorium. The event will include music by Bristol’s own Dixieland Jazz Band, refreshments, inspirational words and fun.
• First Presbyterian Church, Church Circle in Kingsport, from 2-4 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Music will be provided by Appalachian Trail, and the Christine LaGuardia Phillips Cancer Center will provide food.
• Camp Bethel, from 1-4 p.m. in Wise, Va. This scenic retreat will be the setting for food and fun, with music by two groups: Bluegrass, Gospel, Country Revue, then David and Bernita Jervis with Tyler Hughes and Rhody Jane Meadows.
