WELLMONT COMMERCIALS EARN TWO TELLY AWARDS

KINGSPORT – Two Wellmont Health System television commercials were among those honored in the 21st Annual Telly Awards.

“Spring Planting,” a 30-second commercial featuring neighbors helping an injured farmer, was named a winner in the competition, earning Wellmont a silver statuette. “Bluegrass,” a 30-second commercial showcasing the harmony of a bluegrass band, was selected as a finalist and was honored with a bronze statuette.

Both commercials are part of Wellmont’s ongoing “Making Strong Healthcare Stronger” campaign and were produced by Rynne Marketing of Chicago.

The Telly Awards competition was founded in 1980 to showcase and give recognition to the nation’s outstanding non-network and cable commercials. The contest was expanded several years ago to include film and video productions.

Entries in the Telly Awards do not compete against each other but are judged against a high standard of excellence. The competition in 1999 received more than 11,000 entries. Typically, just 14 to 18 percent of entries are named finalists, and only 7 to 10 percent are named winners.
