KINGSPORT – Wellmont Health System is expanding its delivery of high-quality, innovative physical therapy with the opening of a satellite facility at the new YMCA Wellmont Center.
Wellmont Physical Therapy at the YMCA will open on Friday, May 17, with the rest of the complex. Trained caregivers from Sullivan Center Outpatient Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy will treat patients at the new facility, which is near MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center.
The Sullivan Center, which has delivered expert care in the Holston Valley Outpatient Center, will continue serving patients throughout the region at the Stone Drive location.
“This new clinic provides an excellent opportunity for Wellmont to serve our patients in the Kingsport area with additional convenience from the same excellent staff patients have trusted with their physical therapy needs,” said Denny DeNarvaez, Wellmont’s president and CEO. “We’re excited to incorporate our service in this new facility, which shares our commitment to promote wellness in the region.”
Wellmont and the Kingsport Family YMCA have a mutual goal to encourage residents to adopt healthy living habits.
Wellmont is focused on community health through multiple initiatives aimed at preventing diseases and illnesses, such as screenings, health fairs and seminars. The health system is also committed to assisting the community with other resources, including support groups and medical libraries.
The YMCA is actively involved by providing opportunities for family time, group exercises, personal fitness and wellness challenges.
Wellmont Physical Therapy, which has about 775 square feet, is located adjacent to the weight and cross-training equipment on the second floor of the YMCA Wellmont Center. Licensed physical therapists will provide orthopedic therapy, postoperative rehabilitation and sports medicine services.
Patients do not have to be members of the YMCA to access care at Wellmont Physical Therapy at the YMCA.
While the facility will focus primarily on delivering superior physical therapy, it will also dovetail with Wellmont’s patient-centered community outreach. Wellmont Physical Therapy at the YMCA will periodically host public health screenings and education sessions.
“Some of our patients may work or live near our new facility, and we are pleased to give them the opportunity to serve their therapy needs with less travel time,” said Greg Cross, the Sullivan Center’s director of outpatient physical therapy. “We have been proud to be the go-to clinic for physical therapy patients in our region, and this new location will just extend the healing experience to a new part of the community.”
