KINGSPORT – For the third year in a row, Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center has been honored as a Consumer Choice Award winner by National Research Corporation. The Kingsport hospital was recognized as a winner for the Tri-Cities metropolitan statistical area.
Consumer Choice Award winners are those hospitals that consumers choose as having the highest quality and image in more than 100 markets across the country. National Research determines winners by measuring consumer perceptions through multiple quality and image ratings as part of the company’s annual Healthcare Market Guide study.
This is the eighth year NRC has honored hospitals recognized by consumers as quality healthcare providers. The 2003 study surveyed nearly 140,000 households representing 400,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia.
“Like all of Wellmont Health System, Wellmont Holston Valley is committed to excellence in patient care,” Wellmont President and Chief Executive Officer Eddie George said. “As this award signifies, our patients recognize the exemplary care and service they receive at Wellmont Holston Valley is second to none.”
Consumers participating in NRC’s 2003 Healthcare Market Guide study named 2,500 hospitals. Of those 2,500, the winning facilities rank highest in their metropolitan statistical area. The 2003 Healthcare Market Guide is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. The study has a margin of error of plus or minus 0.2 percent at a national level.
