Founded in 1951, JCAHO is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates and accredits nearly 20,000 healthcare organizations and programs, including ambulatory care centers, behavioral healthcare organizations, health plans, home care organizations, hospitals, laboratories, long-term care facilities and long-term care pharmacies.
